WALKS AROUND THE VILLAGE
(waymarked footpaths and technical information sheets plus itineraries, available at Cléron accueil)

"Cléron - Castel Saint Denis - Cléron" Loop

This circuit begins by crossing the village. You can admire the magnificent castel of Cléron of the XIVth century, whose towers are reflected in the mirror of the Loue, while strolling around the garden.

You will then come across the XVIIIth century wash houses, Saint Siméon church and a XVIth century religious monument. You reach the Belvédère du Cingle by a Cingle country lane, followed by a former tilt hammer of the Grillet mill and at the Grillet-Grognard space, to the "no kill" fly fishing course. You will discover the Boillon mill, the Pater Farm and the Castel Saint Denis, an extraordinary relic of the middle ages, and then at the top, as a reward for all your effort, you will have an unforgettable view over the Loue valley, and the Valbois ravine.

You will then cross the Curasson forest and arrive at the botanic path, which runs alongside the cliffs of the Valbois Ravine and its belvedere. The 4km path will help you to initiate yourself with the knowledge of the cliff's flora. Access is from the Pater Farm (Doubs Nature Environnement: 03.31.62.14.14, ravin.valbois@espaces-nature.fr visits with commentary). On the way back, you will "la Pierre qui vire", a very peculiar monolithic block, due to its shape and location, rooted in the ground, next to the River Loue and the communal Pater path to ClZron.

This walk is full of legends, the changing Stone, the Valley aerial hunter, Amados and the legend of Val d'Amour, the Varais Boar, the Pearl necklace, the treasure on the sides of the Croz...

Then via an archway of trees and sometimes a plantation of fir trees, you will sapins, you will arrive at the remoteness of Norvaux, where you will dominate, this gigantic monolithe which looks like a monk's cape, the object of tales and legends since celtic times.
